Women’s social and political activity and their involvement in decision-making processes are critical for Uzbekistan’s progress. Under President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s leadership, initiatives to promote gender equality have gained significant momentum.

Farrangiz Avazbekova, Chief Inspector of the Public Service Development Agency, emphasized the importance of empowering women in governance. She noted that the share of women in public service has grown from 5–8% to 34% since open competitions were introduced, with over 26,300 women succeeding in these competitions.

Key Achievements and Initiatives:

  1. National Cadre Reserve: The proportion of women in Uzbekistan’s National Cadre Reserve has doubled compared to 2023, with 1,000 women selected for training and potential appointments in leadership roles.
  2. Flexible Work Arrangements: A flexible working system was piloted for 83 women in government agencies in Syrdarya province, with plans for broader implementation.
  3. School of Women Leaders: Three training seasons have prepared 143 women for leadership, with 100 top-performing candidates selected for advanced programs in areas such as digital economy, poverty reduction, entrepreneurship, and green economy.
  4. Targeted Competitions: Public contests will identify talented women for leadership training, aiming to improve managerial and professional skills.

Strategic Goals:
By 2030, Uzbekistan aims to increase the number of women in public service leadership positions while enhancing their professional development. These measures align with the Uzbekistan-2030 Strategy, particularly goals related to governance reforms and gender equality.

This targeted training system promotes women’s active engagement in public service, contributing to their professional growth and fostering social dialogue.
