On November 15, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting to discuss uninterrupted energy supply for the population and industries and to enhance efficiency in the energy sector enterprises.
Tasks for energy supply were outlined during a video conference on June 10. At today’s meeting, officials reported on progress in implementing these tasks and preparing for the autumn-winter season.
It was noted that gas is being supplied to meet the growing demand of the population and economy. Modernization and increased energy efficiency have led to reduced losses. For instance, gas consumption for industrial production has decreased by 1.6 times in recent years. However, much work remains, including ensuring stable energy supply for the current and upcoming seasons and preparing sufficient reserves.
Key points of the discussion included:
- Gas Supply Plans: For the winter season, 21 billion cubic meters of gas are planned to be supplied to consumers. Contingency plans were outlined for colder-than-usual weather, including district-level measures.
- Prioritizing Social and Economic Institutions: A reserve has been established for social institutions, thermal power plants, chemical and metallurgical industries, and gas refueling stations.
- Loss Reduction: Continued efforts in gas metering and monitoring were emphasized, along with further reductions in losses, particularly in the Andijan, Navoi, and Tashkent regions.
President Mirziyoyev directed responsible officials to address energy supply issues locally, coordinate demand and consumption, and prevent interruptions. He also addressed transformation processes in the gas sector, emphasizing that industry enterprises must access international financial markets and independently secure funding for modernization.
Digitalization and public-private partnerships were highlighted as critical tools for updating and regulating gas supply networks. Proposals for attracting private operators to the sector were also reviewed.
The President tasked officials with reducing costs across sectors and enterprises, optimizing expenses, and accelerating transformation processes. The importance of expanding geological exploration with international partners was underscored.
