Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev participated in the XX Forum of Interregional Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia, held via videoconference. During his address, Tokayev emphasized the need to deepen cooperation in agriculture and logistics.
— This year, Kazakh farmers achieved a record grain harvest of 27 million tons. We have also launched major projects aimed at reducing dependence on food imports. By 2030, 116 modern dairy farms and 29 meat poultry factories are planned to be built, significantly increasing domestic production. However, I firmly believe that Kazakhstan and Russia should not compete in the EAEU internal market. Such competition undermines integration. Instead, our countries can unite efforts to establish a joint food hub for exporting agricultural products to third-country markets, — Tokayev stated.
He also stressed the importance of strengthening transport and logistics infrastructure. Kazakhstan plans to construct over 5,000 kilometers of new railroads and repair 11,000 kilometers of existing ones by 2030. Developing modern multimodal centers and “dry ports” abroad is another key part of this strategy.
— A successful example of cooperation is the transport and logistics center built at the Selyatino station in Russia. On the other end of the corridor, in Xi’an, China, a newly constructed Kazakh terminal will play a crucial role in the China-Kazakhstan-Russia transit route, — Tokayev added.
The President also highlighted efforts to develop Kazakhstan’s tourism sector. Offering visa-free travel to citizens of 86 countries, Kazakhstan aims to improve transport accessibility to key resort areas.
During the forum, 20 agreements were signed to boost cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia.
