Visit Hungary, a subsidiary of the Hungarian Tourism Agency, has launched a new campaign aimed at boosting domestic tourism throughout Hungary during the autumn-winter season. The initiative includes over 300 participating accommodations nationwide, each offering a 20% discount for visitors using Szép-cards, regardless of the length of stay, from early January until the end of February. Information on participating accommodations is available on www.csodasmagyarorszag.hu.

CEO Olivér Csendes of Visit Hungary highlighted that the campaign seeks to encourage Szép-card usage. He noted that while cardholders used over 327 billion forints in the first nine months of the year, an additional 92 billion forints remain unused on the cards, as funds continued to grow.

The campaign also addresses a growing trend among Hungarians to spend Christmas and New Year’s holidays within the country. However, according to the National Tourism Data Supply Center (NTAK), domestic tourism demand tends to drop after the holiday season. This campaign aims to stabilize demand during the quieter period of January and February through targeted marketing.

The promotional effort appeals to young adults looking for short getaways, older travelers with flexibility, and families with young children. Campaign ads, showcasing Hungary’s natural beauty, spas, culinary experiences, and winter activities, will run on television, online platforms, and social media.

This nationwide marketing initiative seeks to stimulate interest in Hungary’s unique offerings beyond the peak tourist season, inviting travelers to explore the country’s beauty and relaxation options throughout winter.
