The Uzbek government has introduced the 2025 State Program as part of the “Uzbekistan-2030 Strategy.” This pivotal document emphasizes environmental protection, sustainable energy, and economic development, reflecting the nation’s commitment to improving the quality of life and responding to global environmental challenges.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s vision prioritizes rebuilding trust between the government and citizens. In creating the strategy, he consulted citizens across the country to incorporate public opinion into national goals. The program’s practical measures are divided into five key areas, addressing the environment, infrastructure, green energy, and economic reforms.
Key Objectives and Measures:
- Environmental and Green Economy Focus: Planting 200 million trees, creating 701 green parks, and increasing forested areas to 4.1 million hectares.
- Renewable Energy Development: Introducing 3.5 GW of new solar and wind energy sources in 2025 and aiming for 54% renewable energy by 2030.
- Sustainable Urban Planning: Developing eco-friendly infrastructure in 32 cities and introducing “green tariffs” for renewable energy use.
- Legislative Reforms: Establishing 90 legal acts to support the program, aiming to boost GDP by 6% annually and create sustainable job opportunities.
- Climate Resilience: Expanding protected natural areas to 14.5% of the country’s territory and developing eco-tourism.
The program also includes initiatives like the “One Million Green Families” movement, promoting eco-friendly practices such as water conservation, healthy living, and green transportation. Plans to modernize irrigation systems for agriculture will save water and support rural communities.
By 2030, Uzbekistan aims to transform its energy sector, reduce carbon emissions, and strengthen its position as an environmentally responsible nation. The program reflects the nation’s dedication to sustainable development and the well-being of its citizens.
