On November 4, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev led a meeting addressing the transformation of Uzbekistan’s energy sector, including private sector involvement in regional power network management. Over the last five years, $4.3 billion has been invested in energy production, resulting in 5.7 gigawatts of new capacity. Production, transmission, and distribution functions have been divided among separate companies, and four major enterprises are now undergoing transformation to enhance competitiveness and service quality.

The meeting emphasized cost reduction through project optimization and improved procurement. Plans are in place to attract private operators to manage power networks in Samarkand, Jizzakh, and Syrdarya regions next year, with an expected investment influx of $4 billion. The year 2025 has been declared as the year of energy efficiency and rational resource use, with digital transformation reaching every level of the energy companies.
