In the city of Samarkand, Uzbekistan and Turkey held the first joint commission meeting on cultural cooperation. The meeting was attended by representatives led by Deputy Minister of Culture of Uzbekistan, Murodjon Majidov, and Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, Batuhan Mumku.

During the meeting, officials discussed potential collaborations in cinema, theater, and circus arts, as well as cultural heritage preservation and museum studies. The agenda included promoting cultural development, protecting tangible and intangible cultural heritage, and using modern technologies such as artificial intelligence in conservation. Additionally, both countries committed to supporting each other’s initiatives in cultural projects within international organizations, and agreed to share expertise.

Batuhan Mumku remarked, “The cultural agreement signed in 2018 during the Turkish President’s visit to Uzbekistan has elevated cooperation to a new level.” The two sides agreed on hosting national film and theater weeks in each country, co-producing films and stage works, and working with UNESCO, ISESCO, TURKSOY, and other international organizations to promote cultural initiatives.

The meeting concluded with the signing of a joint commission statement, and the next joint cultural commission meeting between Uzbekistan and Turkey is scheduled for 2025 in Turkey.
