On March 5, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Nurlan Yermekbayev, who arrived in Tashkent on an official visit.

During the talks, the parties discussed the expansion of multilateral cooperation within the SCO, emphasizing the importance of strengthening regional stability and security, as well as addressing contemporary challenges.

The conversation also focused on the continuation of reforms initiated at the Samarkand Summit, particularly in the areas of trade facilitation, e-commerce development, investment stimulation, and digitalization of logistics. The implementation of the “New Economic Dialogue” concept was highlighted as a key priority.

Another major topic was the preparation for the upcoming SCO Summit, which is set to take place in Tianjin, China, in July.
