TÜRKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev delivered key remarks at the “High-Level Group of Friends Meeting” during the UN Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) 10th Global Forum held in Cascais, Portugal. The forum’s theme, “Forging Unity Amid Diversity: Rebuilding Trust and Shaping the Future,” resonated deeply with the mission of TÜRKSOY and the shared values of the Turkic World.

Raev highlighted the Turkic World’s role as a cultural bridge between Eastern Europe and Central Asia. He underscored how its shared history, culture, and values contribute to the global human mosaic, emphasizing that cultural heritage serves as a cornerstone for sustainable peace and development.

Reaffirming TÜRKSOY’s commitment to promoting cultural, educational, and collaborative initiatives, Raev said: “These efforts demonstrate the essential role of culture in fostering sustainable peace and development.” He also referenced the 2040 Vision of the Turkic World, which outlines a collective commitment to deeper cooperation in areas like culture, education, technology, and diplomacy.

“Dialogue is not an option but a necessity,” Raev stated, adding that the Turkic World’s long-standing tradition of dialogue stems from its historical roots. He praised the UNAOC for providing a platform for global leaders to develop solutions based on cultural diversity and mutual understanding.

Concluding his speech, Raev thanked the Portuguese government for its hospitality and congratulated UNAOC High Representative Miguel Ángel Moratinos and his team for organizing the event.

The forum in Cascais continues to serve as a vital platform for leaders worldwide to collaborate on cultural diversity and mutual understanding.
