Speaking at the 16th Meeting of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States in Budapest, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, emphasized the importance of advancing people’s diplomacy based on prosperity, peace, mutual respect, and good neighborliness.
“The most important thing is to promote the philosophy of peace and implement the policy advocated by our countries’ leaders,” said the National Leader of Turkmenistan. He highlighted the adoption of the UN General Assembly Resolution “Central Asia – a Zone of Peace, Trust, and Cooperation,” initiated by Turkmenistan, and the upcoming declaration of the “International Year of Peace and Trust.”
To support the Council of Elders’ initiatives in strengthening friendship and brotherhood among nations, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov proposed creating a newspaper, journal, or website dedicated to the Council’s activities.
Berdimuhamedov also noted that 2025 will mark 30 years since Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality was recognized by the international community. He proposed hosting the Council of Elders’ meeting in Ashgabat in 2025 to coincide with this milestone.
