Türkiye has pledged its support for Iraq’s ambitious Great Development Road Project, which seeks to link the two nations through a comprehensive network of railways, highways, ports, and cities. Speaking in Baghdad during meetings with Iraqi officials, Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat emphasized the transformative potential of the initiative.

“The Great Development Road is more than just a transportation project; it represents development, modernization, and a visionary future for Iraq,” Bolat said. The minister highlighted the project’s capacity to revolutionize Iraq’s infrastructure, creating logistics hubs, industrial centers, and new urban areas that will stimulate economic growth.

Bolat affirmed Türkiye’s readiness to contribute to the project with its experienced contractors, consultants, and industrialists. “We are prepared to bring our expertise to support Iraq’s modernization and development,” he added.

Set to be completed by 2030, the project is expected to significantly enhance commercial transportation between Iraq and Türkiye, solidifying their bilateral trade relations. Bolat described it as a landmark effort that will boost regional trade and connectivity.

During his visit, Bolat underscored Türkiye’s ongoing commitment to strengthening economic ties with Iraq, noting that the two countries have a shared interest in fostering stability and prosperity through collaborative infrastructure projects.
