Türkiye and Azerbaijan have officially put their natural gas cooperation agreement into effect after its publication in the Turkish Official Gazette on Wednesday.
Signed last May in Istanbul by Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar and Azerbaijan’s Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov, the agreement reinforces the energy partnership between the two nations.
Under the pact, additional volumes of Azerbaijani natural gas from the Caspian region will be delivered to Türkiye by 2030. A portion of this gas will also be transported to Europe, strengthening the continent’s energy security. To facilitate this, the capacity of the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum Natural Gas Pipeline will be expanded.
This agreement marks another milestone in Türkiye and Azerbaijan’s strategic cooperation in energy, reflecting their commitment to regional energy security and supply diversification.
