Türkiye and the UK are set to engage in high-level consultations in Ankara on Monday to discuss Syria’s security, reconstruction efforts, and broader regional developments, diplomatic sources confirmed.
The meeting will be chaired by Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Nuh Yilmaz and UK Minister for the Middle East Hamish Falconer. The discussions will primarily address Syria and other regional matters of mutual interest.
Yilmaz is expected to outline Türkiye’s perspectives on Syria’s security and economic situation while reaffirming the country’s expectations regarding regional stability. Both sides will emphasize the importance of international support for steps taken by the Syrian administration to advance national reconciliation within a unified central government framework.
Additionally, Türkiye is expected to highlight the need for the unconditional lifting of sanctions to facilitate Syria’s reconstruction and economic recovery.
The consultations will also stress that terrorism has no place in Syria’s future and will address concerns over Israel’s ongoing actions, which Türkiye sees as violations of Syria’s sovereignty.
These discussions are part of broader diplomatic engagements between Türkiye and the UK, aiming to enhance regional stability and cooperation on key security challenges.
