Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz expressed strong disapproval of the upcoming Greek-produced Netflix series “Famagusta.” In his social media post, Yılmaz stated, “The EOKA atrocities, carried out under the guise of Enosis dreams, which aimed to overthrow the government and massacred Turkish Cypriots without distinguishing between children and the elderly, were not a film, but a reality.” Yılmaz emphasized that historical facts cannot be covered up with fictional scripts and urged digital platforms not to be used for Greek propaganda.

He continued: “The traces of this cruelty are still clearly visible in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) today, with mass graves of Turkish Cypriots still being discovered. No matter what they do, they cannot change the peace and stability brought about by the Peace Operation, nor the reality of the TRNC on the ground. Without the Peace Operation, who can guarantee that the massacres happening in Gaza today wouldn’t have been inflicted upon Turkish Cypriots if given the chance?”
