On Sunday, Türkiye’s Communications Director Fahrettin Altun criticized The Economist for its distorted reporting on ongoing legal cases in the country. Altun asserted that while the magazine has remained silent on the brutal massacres and acts of terrorism committed by Israel, it now dares to target President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan by misrepresenting judicial investigations conducted by Türkiye’s independent courts.
“There is no lesson to be learned from this publication, which blatantly ignores universal legal principles and unconditionally supports Israel, while not uttering a word against Western states that suppress the voices of those defending the oppressed Palestinian people,” Altun stated on X. He further described the initiative as “a new version of the global conspiracies against Türkiye.”
Despite these criticisms, Altun affirmed that under President Erdoğan’s leadership, Türkiye continues to stride confidently toward becoming a great and powerful nation, undeterred by what he termed as “dirty games” by certain global actors.
