A Turkish ship carrying 1,000 tons of humanitarian aid docked in Beirut on Friday, offering significant support to the Lebanese population amidst continued Israeli assaults. Turkish lawmaker Hasan Turan and the head of the Lebanon-Türkiye Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group, Hasan Murad, were present to welcome the vessel.

Also attending the ceremony were Turkish Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Baris Ulusoy and the Secretary-General of the Lebanese Higher Relief Commission, Mohammad Khair. The aid shipment, organized by Turkish NGOs active in Lebanon, includes food, medical equipment, and other essential items for those affected by the ongoing conflict.

Earlier in October, Türkiye sent two additional ships delivering 300 tons of humanitarian supplies as an immediate response to Lebanon’s increasing needs. The aid comes amid heightened Israeli military actions in Lebanon, which Israel claims target Hezbollah sites following escalated hostilities between the two since Israel’s intensified actions in Gaza.

Lebanese health authorities report that nearly 2,900 people have been killed and over 13,000 injured due to Israeli attacks since October last year. The conflict further escalated on Oct. 1, when Israel initiated an incursion into southern Lebanon.
