The 5th anniversary meeting of the health ministers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was held in Astana, Kazakhstan. Ministers of Health from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkey attended the summit, with the Director of WHO’s European Regional Office, Hans Kluge, present as an honorary guest.

Key topics discussed included advancing healthcare systems in member states, strengthening partnerships in the medical and pharmaceutical industries, and adopting a new Action Plan for 2025–2026. The plan focuses on technology transfer, capacity building, development of medical tourism, transplant systems, and preparedness for public health emergencies.

Secretary General of the OTS, Kubanychbek Omuraliev, highlighted progress in the implementation of the 2023 OTS Action Plan and acknowledged the role of international actors like the WHO. Uzbekistan’s Health Minister Asilbek Khudayarov emphasized the importance of joint educational programs and professional exchange to raise healthcare quality.

The Joint Declaration signed at the conclusion of the event underlined the significance of digital transformation in healthcare. It outlined collaboration on electronic prescriptions, cross-border patient data sharing, medical research cooperation, and the establishment of common medical education standards among member and observer states.
