TRNC Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment, Fikri Ataoğlu, underlined the potential of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) in sectors like health and halal tourism, alongside its reputation as a tourism and education hub. Speaking at the 10th World Halal Summit held in Istanbul under the auspices of Türkiye’s Presidency and in cooperation with the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC), Ataoğlu said, “We are not limiting tourism to the triangle of sun, sea, and sand. Our country offers strong potential in alternative areas like health and halal tourism.”

Highlighting the country’s healthcare infrastructure, Ataoğlu stated, “With high-standard hospitals, expert doctors, and affordable services, we are advancing as a key global destination. Our blend of traditional and modern medical services puts us in an exceptional position in this sector.” He added that the TRNC is also leveraging its natural beauty and historical richness to attract visitors globally.

Ataoğlu expressed satisfaction with the growing partnerships facilitated by the Halal Summit, noting its role in fostering collaboration between cultures and nations. “This summit serves as a valuable meeting point for strengthening ties and cooperation across diverse sectors,” he said.

The event also featured discussions on the economic and cultural ties of OIC member countries. Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Economy, Elnur Aliyev, emphasized his country’s role in fostering solidarity among Muslim nations. “Azerbaijan continues to promote unity and collaboration in the Islamic world through initiatives that strengthen trade agreements and cultural exchange,” Aliyev noted.

Gambian Minister of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration, and Employment Babaoucarr Ousmaila Joof highlighted the global halal industry’s significant economic potential, predicting it to exceed $10 trillion by 2030. Joof praised the summit as an essential platform for stakeholders in the halal value chain, enabling growth in trade and industry development.
