As part of renewed efforts to advance peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, key trilateral meetings will take place on Friday, May 17, 2025, in Istanbul, hosted by Türkiye.
According to the Turkish Foreign Ministry, two trilateral formats will be held at the Presidential Dolmabahce Office:
- Türkiye–US–Ukraine at 10:45 am (0745 GMT)
- Türkiye–Russia–Ukraine at 12:30 pm (0930 GMT)
Representing Türkiye, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will join both sessions. The US delegation will be led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, while Ukraine will be represented by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, accompanied by high-level security and foreign affairs officials. The Russian delegation will be led by Presidential Advisor Vladimir Medinsky, with senior officials including Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin, GRU Director Igor Kostyukov, and Deputy Defense Minister Aleksandr Fomin.
These meetings mark a new diplomatic phase in Türkiye’s continued facilitation of peace efforts between the warring sides.
