On January 22, 2025, the Tashkent International University officially took over the Chairmanship of the Turkic University Union (TURKUNIB) for the 2025-2026 term. The handover ceremony took place in Tashkent, with participation from Dr. Mirvokhid Azimov, Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Mr. Bobur Rakhimov, Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Uzbekistan, and representatives of member universities of TURKUNIB.

The event emphasized the importance of fostering academic and educational collaboration across the Turkic world. Special attention was given to enhancing student and faculty exchanges through TURKUNIB initiatives, particularly the Orkhun Exchange Program.

The Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) was commended for its effective leadership during its term as Chair University-in-Office. During the ceremony, a symbolic handover occurred, where Professor Adalat Muradov, Rector of UNEC, passed on the Chairmanship to Mr. Iskandar Yuldashev, Director of Tashkent International University, by presenting a symbolic key.

As part of the event, Dr. Mirvokhid Azimov and Mr. Iskandar Yuldashev signed the Road Map outlining activities and initiatives for TURKUNIB under the new Chairmanship.
