On December 3, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov met with South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol in Seoul during his official visit. The discussions focused on deepening bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

President Yoon Suk Yeol welcomed Sadyr Japarov warmly, highlighting the close and friendly relations established since 1992. He emphasized the growing presence of South Korean companies in Kyrgyzstan and the increasing exchanges between citizens of both countries.

Yoon Suk Yeol underlined the strategic importance of Central Asia as a bridge between Europe and Asia. He introduced the “K-Silk Road” initiative, a diplomatic strategy aimed at enhancing cooperation with the region. Both leaders agreed to elevate diplomatic relations to a Comprehensive Partnership, marking a significant milestone in their 32-year relationship.

The discussions explored economic collaboration, environmental protection, renewable energy, supply chains, and education. President Japarov expressed support for the “K-Silk Road” initiative and reaffirmed Kyrgyzstan’s commitment to its implementation. He invited South Korea to participate in the 2027 Bishkek+25 Global Mountain Summit, emphasizing joint efforts against climate change.

The Kyrgyz leader also highlighted growing interest in Korean culture and language among Kyrgyz youth and stressed the importance of educational exchanges. He invited President Yoon Suk Yeol to visit Kyrgyzstan, envisioning stronger ties in the future.
