The National Music and Drama Theater of Turkmenistan hosted a concert honoring Rovshen Nepesov’s birthday, where he introduced his new musical poem “Fragi.” Created in tribute to the 300th anniversary of Makhtumkuli, the poem is a heartfelt expression of Turkmen cultural identity. Nepesov explained that his inspiration for the poem came from viewing artwork inspired by Makhtumkuli’s poetry. He selected the violin to convey the refined emotions within the poem, entrusting the lead role to violinist Bahram Dolyev, whose performance deeply moved him. Nepesov also shared that he has started work on a new symphony, “Kushdepti,” which incorporates traditional Turkmen dance and is recognized by UNESCO as a cultural heritage.
