Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Russia is fully committed to helping normalize relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, underscoring that Russia sees these nations as natural strategic allies. “We have done and continue to do everything to normalize Azerbaijan-Armenia relations and ensure sustainable peace. We will keep supporting the peace agreement process, border delimitation, and opening economic and transport links,” Putin said during a ceremony where he accepted the credentials of new ambassadors, including those of Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Putin also welcomed the recent meeting between Azerbaijani and Armenian leaders in Kazan during the BRICS summit, where they held what he called a productive dialogue on principles for achieving lasting peace and inter-ethnic harmony in the region.
He further stressed that Azerbaijan and Armenia are Russia’s closest neighbors, friends, and natural strategic partners.
