President Ersin Tatar welcomed Rosemary DiCarlo, the United Nations (UN) Deputy Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, at the Presidential Palace.


The meeting began at 10:00, with DiCarlo being received by the President’s Special Representative Güneş Onar. DiCarlo was accompanied by Colin Stewart, the UN Special Representative for Cyprus and Head of the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus.

After the meeting with President Tatar, DiCarlo is scheduled to meet with the President of the Greek Cypriot Administration, Nikos Christodoulides. Following her visit to Cyprus, DiCarlo will visit Athens on February 12 and Ankara on February 13.


According to the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus spokesperson, the discussions will focus on the path to resolving the Cyprus issue and preparations for a larger informal meeting. DiCarlo will also hold meetings with civil society representatives, including youth and women’s groups, as part of her efforts aligned with the UN Secretary-General’s good offices mission.
