Today, Uzbekistan holds elections for the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis (Parliament) and local councils. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived with his family at the 59th polling station in Tashkent’s Mirzo Ulugbek district, where he cast his vote. As enshrined in Article 128 of Uzbekistan’s Constitution, all citizens have the right to vote and be elected, with voting freedom and equality guaranteed by law.

This year’s elections mark the first use of a mixed electoral system, with 75 deputies elected by majority vote and another 75 through proportional representation based on votes for political parties. The parties participating include the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, the National Revival Democratic Party, the Ecological Party, the People’s Democratic Party, and the Justice Social Democratic Party. This significant event is taking place under the slogan “My Choice is My Prosperous Homeland.”

All aspects of the election are conducted with transparency, as over 850 international observers from the CIS, SCO, Turkic States Organization, and OSCE are monitoring the process.
