President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan presided over the opening of the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Bishkek Kyrgyz-Turkish Friendship State Hospital, a facility built in Bishkek by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA). At the opening ceremony, Erdoğan voiced his pleasure, stating, “It is a source of pride to establish a 150-bed hospital here.”
Turkey’s Minister of Health, Kemal Memişoğlu, highlighted that the hospital was established following Erdoğan’s directives to improve healthcare in Kyrgyzstan. Memişoğlu noted that the hospital spans 12,000 square meters and provides comprehensive healthcare, including liver and kidney transplants.
Wishing the hospital success, Memişoğlu added, “We invested $9 million here and provided an additional $19 million in healthcare support. We signed a five-year cooperation agreement, providing $35 million to assist our Kyrgyz brothers. We are committed to enhancing healthcare services here.” He also mentioned that 6 Turkish and 35 Kyrgyz doctors work at the hospital, where 4,000 outpatient treatments and 1,000 surgeries have already been conducted.
Following prayers, Erdoğan and his delegation cut the ribbon to mark the hospital’s opening. Accompanying Erdoğan were the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Ersin Tatar, Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu, Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat, and Binali Yıldırım, Chairman of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).
After the opening, President Erdoğan toured the hospital and received briefings from officials.
