On November 13, a ceremonial presentation was held at Karakalpak State University in Nukus, Uzbekistan, marking the 200th anniversary of the prominent Karakalpak poet Ajiniyaz Kosybay Uly. Organized by the Turkic Academy, the event showcased two newly translated books of the poet’s work, “Karakalpak Şairi Äjiniyaz Kosıbay Ulı” in Turkish and “Hacıniyaz Kosıbay oğlu: Bəylər, Tərif Edim Qalpaq Yurdunu” in Azerbaijani. The event was attended by scholars and cultural representatives from Turkic countries.

In his address, Shahin Mustafayev, President of the Turkic Academy, emphasized that since its founding, the Academy has conducted research to preserve and promote the literary and cultural heritage of the Turkic world. He highlighted Ajiniyaz’s importance as a symbol of unity, noting that the poet’s verses resonate beyond Karakalpakstan and serve as a source of pride for the entire Turkic world.

To conclude the event, University Rector Akhmet Reymov presented a seven-volume Explanatory Dictionary of the Karakalpak Language to the Turkic Academy, further strengthening cultural ties between the institutions. Mustafayev extended gratitude to Azerbaijani and Turkish scholars for bringing Ajiniyaz’s works to readers across Turkic-speaking countries.
