On February 3, 2025, political consultations were held in Astana between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan. The event was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The Turkmen delegation was led by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, while the Kazakh delegation was headed by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu.

During the meeting, both parties noted with satisfaction the fruitful nature of the Turkmen-Kazakh dialogue, which is built on the principles of mutually beneficial partnership.

The consultations included a constructive exchange of views on bilateral issues. The sides assessed the current state of political, diplomatic, trade, economic, and cultural-humanitarian cooperation, reviewed the progress of previously reached agreements, and discussed joint actions for the future.

Emphasizing the key role of high-level contacts, both sides agreed that such meetings play a crucial role in strengthening bilateral relations.

Discussions also covered joint actions in the context of 2025 being the International Year of Peace and Trust. In this regard, both parties highlighted the high level of cooperation within international organizations such as the UN, OIC, ECO, and various “CA+” formats. The diplomats reaffirmed their mutual commitment to strengthening multilateral relations.

Ministers also underlined the importance of boosting inter-parliamentary relations to enhance multidimensional dialogue and agreed to intensify cooperation between their foreign ministries.

In addition, they addressed a wide range of issues related to economic cooperation, where there is considerable potential for joint efforts. The significance of the Turkmen-Kazakh Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific-Technical, and Cultural Cooperation was highlighted. Discussions included strengthening partnerships in key economic sectors such as energy, transport and communications, trade, and industry.

Both sides also emphasized the need to deepen cultural and scientific-educational ties while fostering cooperation in healthcare, sports, and other areas.

At the conclusion of the consultations, diplomats expressed confidence that relations based on centuries-old bonds of friendship and good neighborliness would continue to develop successfully for the benefit of the two brotherly nations.
