In light of Türkiye’s suspension of trade with Israel, Palestinian National Economy Minister Mohammed Al-Amour has announced an increase in Turkish exports to Palestine due to a trade exemption arranged at Palestine’s request. “After Türkiye banned exports to Israel, this trade was limited only to Palestine, and thus there was an increase in Türkiye’s exports to Palestine. Because some of our imports from Türkiye were made from the Israeli market and through Israeli traders,” Al-Amour explained, noting that prior to the ban, some imports from Türkiye came through Israeli traders.

Al-Amour made these remarks at the 40th Ministerial Session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul. He thanked Türkiye for its longstanding solidarity, especially during this critical period of conflict in Gaza and the West Bank.

Highlighting the deep-rooted trade relationship between Palestine and Türkiye, Al-Amour stated that the trade mechanism was adjusted in agreement with Türkiye to allow direct shipments to Palestinian importers. The updated procedure ensures that “Turkish products reach only Palestinian consumers,” following verification by the Palestinian Ministry of National Economy.

Al-Amour noted that before Türkiye’s trade ban with Israel, some imports from Türkiye used Israeli export codes. Now, “all Turkish exports to Palestine are conducted under the Palestinian code,” allowing better monitoring of the products’ destination. He added that discussions with Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat led to further control measures to ensure that Turkish goods reach Palestinian territories exclusively.

The minister also expressed concern over disinformation, stating that some accusations against the Turkish government harm the Palestinian cause by indirectly supporting Israeli policies against the Palestinian people.

Al-Amour mentioned that the Jenin Industrial Zone, a collaborative industrial project between Türkiye and Palestine, is nearing completion after delays. He expressed hope that, once peace is restored, further Turkish investments will help strengthen Palestinian industries.
