As part of COP29, a high-level roundtable titled “From Global Goals to Local Action: Regional Initiatives to Strengthen Agrifood Systems” was held. During the event, Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Sadi Jafarov, highlighted ongoing agricultural collaboration among OTS Member States and the significance of partnerships with international organizations in this field.
A key milestone of the event was the signing of the Joint Declaration on the Establishment of the OTS Forum of Climate Resilient Villages. The forum, based on the 2024 Garabagh Declaration, is a joint initiative by COP29, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Agriculture, and OTS. It aims to promote sustainable rural development, enhance climate resilience, and strengthen cooperation among the Turkic States.
This initiative underscores the shared commitment of OTS Member States to building climate-adaptive agrifood systems and fostering regional solidarity in addressing global environmental challenges.
