At COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, held a meeting with Dr. Salim M. AlMalik, Director-General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO). The leaders discussed shared goals, focusing on environmental and cultural initiatives as part of their continued partnership.

Ambassador Omuraliev praised ICESCO’s dedication to assisting its Member States in addressing climate change and protecting the environment. He expressed the OTS’s commitment to fostering cooperation with ICESCO, especially following the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed to formalize and strengthen their collaborative efforts in areas of mutual interest.

Dr. AlMalik underscored ICESCO’s willingness to engage closely with the OTS in achieving sustainable development goals and promoting cultural heritage in Turkic and Islamic communities. The meeting highlighted both organizations’ dedication to sustainable collaboration, which they view as essential in addressing global challenges like climate change.
