Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, speaking at the inauguration of the Soltvadkert bypass on Route 53 on Monday, highlighted the importance of rural development, stating that a strong Hungary cannot exist without a strong countryside.
Orbán noted that since 2010, the government has focused on revitalizing rural areas, aiming to make them attractive places to live by providing jobs, quality services, and accessibility within a reasonable time.
He announced that Southern Hungary would play an increasingly significant role as a new economic zone is set to be created in the region. Orbán stated that 330 billion forints have been allocated in the 2024 budget for this initiative. Major infrastructure projects are ongoing in Kecskemét, with bypasses planned for Szeged and Baja, while Pécs is preparing for development.
Predicting 2025 as a fantastic year for the Hungarian economy, Orbán urged his audience to ignore doubters and critics, saying, “Do not believe the pessimists and perpetual skeptics.”
