Ashgabat hosted the annual national coordination meeting on the “One Health” project in Central Asia. The meeting focused on strengthening regional cooperation in healthcare, veterinary services, and environmental sustainability to enhance pandemic preparedness and response.

The One Health initiative aims to establish an integrated system linking medical, veterinary, and environmental services for more effective public health crisis management. The project is supported by the Quadripartite Alliance, which includes:

• Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)
• United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)
• World Health Organization (WHO)
• World Bank

On January 28, 2025, representatives from Turkmenistan’s Ministries of Health, Agriculture, Environment, and Finance, along with the State Veterinary Service, gathered in Ashgabat to assess the progress of the project. Discussions focused on improving coordination between implementing organizations, sharing experiences, and planning future strategies.

The collaboration under this project aims to reduce the risks of future pandemics, strengthen medical and veterinary systems, and enhance the region’s environmental resilience.
