Shusha, Azerbaijan – The 4th meeting of Health Ministers from the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) concluded with an agreement to create a unified “Turktransplant” system, which will facilitate collaboration in organ and tissue transplantation.

The meeting, held in Shusha, Azerbaijan, was hosted by Azerbaijani Health Minister Teymur Musayev and attended by OTS Secretary General Kubanychbek Omuraliyev, Turkish Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu, Kyrgyz Health Minister Alimkadır Beyşenaliyev, Uzbekistan’s Deputy Health Minister Davron Sultanov, and Kazakhstan’s Deputy Health Minister Yerbol Ospanov.
In his opening remarks, Musayev emphasized the importance of fostering a unified medical science framework among OTS member and observer states. He highlighted joint scientific research and standardized medical education as key goals of the organization’s cooperative efforts.
Following the meeting, a protocol of intent was signed to establish the “Turktransplant” system, which will enable the exchange of knowledge and expertise in organ and tissue transplantation across the OTS member states.
Additionally, several memorandums of understanding were signed between the scientific research institutions of the health ministries of OTS member and observer states, covering key medical fields such as oncology, cardiology, ophthalmology, pediatrics, traumatology, and orthopedics.
