Kyrgyzstan is undergoing a significant transformation in its civil aviation sector. Airports across the country have been renovated and modernized, creating a seamless transportation network. The international airports “Manas” in Bishkek, “Osh” in the south, and “Issyk-Kul” near the country’s iconic lake now include the newly launched “Karakol” Airport. Plans are also underway for the construction of a new international airport in Jalal-Abad.

As part of the National Development Program, domestic flight routes are being revitalized. Renovated airports in Karakol, Kazarman, Kerben, Talas, Rezzakov, and Naryn now connect regions more effectively. The aviation fleet is being expanded with new aircraft, enhancing both local and international connectivity.

President Sadyr Japarov has also spearheaded discussions with Airbus to acquire modern aircraft for international flights. The first phase involves leasing two Airbus A320 or A321 planes to operate routes between Bishkek and major European cities like Paris, Berlin, and London. By 2025, Kyrgyzstan aims to remove its airlines from the EU blacklist.

Tourism is flourishing alongside aviation developments. The growth in passenger traffic boosts the economy, attracting visitors who explore Kyrgyzstan’s culture and invest in its infrastructure. Manas International Airport achieved a record profit of 6 billion soms in 2023.

In a mountainous country like Kyrgyzstan, improved aviation infrastructure ensures reliable, year-round connectivity, supporting economic growth and opening new opportunities for development. These advancements highlight Kyrgyzstan’s strategic commitment to a modernized future.
