Kyrgyzstan’s Interbank Processing Center and Uzbekistan’s Unified Republican Processing Center (Uzcard) have signed a memorandum to create a unified payment ecosystem. This initiative will enable Kyrgyzstan’s national Elkart cards to be used in Uzbekistan and Uzcard to be accepted in Kyrgyzstan, making cross-border transactions seamless for citizens of both countries.
The collaboration focuses on integrating their payment systems to simplify transactions, applying modern technology for secure cross-border payments, and promoting digital financial literacy among the public. This new system is expected to improve financial accessibility and boost cooperation in sectors like tourism, trade, and economic development.
The partnership marks a significant step toward establishing a modern, integrated financial infrastructure, bringing direct benefits to both the financial sectors of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, and encouraging growth in bilateral relations.
