According to the World Bank’s 2024 real GDP growth assessment, Kyrgyzstan is now recognized among the leading “rapidly developing economies” of Europe and Central Asia. This was announced today by Prime Minister Akylbek Japarov during the review of the national budget at the Jogorku Kenesh.

The consolidated budget approved by Parliament for 2023 reached 577.2 billion soms, representing a 2.5-fold increase over two years. The Tax Service collected 183 billion soms, up by 28.3 billion soms from 2022, while the Customs Service generated 111.5 billion soms, marking a 37.2 billion increase.

Over the first 10 months of 2024, GDP growth reached 9.6%, and excluding Kumtor operations, it amounted to 10.8%. Reflecting on this progress, Prime Minister Japarov recalled the words of UN Secretary-General António Guterres, who noted that Kyrgyzstan has transformed from a “sleeping beauty” to a “racing stallion.” This year, GDP growth is projected to reach 9.2%, exceeding 1.5 trillion soms, up from the historical milestone of 1.3 trillion soms in 2023.

The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan has also updated the exchange rates as of November 15, 2024:

  • USD: 86.37 soms
  • EUR: 91.01 soms
  • RUB: 0.87 tyiyns
  • KZT: 0.17 tyiyns
  • CNY: 11.92 soms

In commercial banks, the average buying rate for the dollar is 86.39 soms, with a selling rate of 86.86 soms.
