Kazakhstan plans to increase its oil exports through the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline. This decision was announced by Kazakhstan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Murat Nurtleu, following his meeting with Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov in Astana.

In 2023, Kazakhstan transported 1.4 million tons of oil via the BTC pipeline. Moving forward, the country aims to raise this volume to 2.2 million tons annually. According to Minister Nurtleu, Kazakhstan is successfully implementing agreements with Azerbaijan to facilitate the global export of its energy resources.

Additionally, he emphasized that Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are actively cooperating in uranium exports. Kazakhstan continues to supply uranium abroad with the support of its Azerbaijani partners.

The minister also highlighted the strategic importance of the Caspian route as a key link connecting Central Asia and the South Caucasus. The development of transport infrastructure across the Caspian Sea plays a crucial role in ensuring energy security and boosting regional trade.

During his official visit, Jeyhun Bayramov held both closed and extended discussions with Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu.

Previously, experts analyzed the economic risks and benefits of Kazakhstan’s oil exports via the BTC pipeline, stressing its importance for energy diversification and geopolitical strategy.
