At a recent Senate meeting, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Digital Development and Aerospace Industry, Jaslan Madiev, presented key space projects that aim to advance the nation’s aerospace capabilities. Kazakhstan has signed a contract for three medium-resolution Earth observation satellites, scheduled for launch by 2027, and an export agreement with Mongolia for satellite production.

In his address, Madiev stated that the KazSat-3 satellite, essential for stable communication and broadcasting, will be replaced by 2029, with contract signing for its replacement set for 2025. Additionally, Kazakhstan is preparing for its first launch of the Soyuz-5 rocket in 2025, with commercial operations anticipated by 2028.

The minister also highlighted efforts to create a homegrown launch vehicle, enabling Kazakhstan’s independent access to space. Development of solid rocket fuel has begun, with a meteorological rocket launch planned for 2025 and testing of an ultra-light rocket targeted for 2030.
