The Minister of Digital Development, Innovation, and Aerospace Industry, Zhaslan Madiyev, shared updates on Kazakhstan’s cosmonaut training initiatives. Speaking at a government briefing, he noted that the country is discussing the potential preparation and launch of a Kazakh cosmonaut as part of the sixth scientific program in the space sector.
“Sending a cosmonaut is a significant investment, and negotiations are ongoing to achieve this at a reasonable cost. While no specific candidate has been selected for dedicated training, we believe there are capable individuals in the country who can be prepared for this mission,” said the minister.
The discussions are also taking place with various companies, aiming to strengthen Kazakhstan’s presence in the global space industry.
