The Kazakhstan Boxing Federation has officially become a full member of World Boxing (WB), as announced at the WB Congress held in Colorado Springs, USA. A total of 55 countries have joined WB, with discussions at the Congress addressing changes to the WB constitution, which were previously approved by the International Olympic Committee. Updates to competition regulations, including new weight categories, were also made, alongside adjustments to referee protocols aimed at increasing transparency in match outcomes.

Olympic Commission Chairman Gennady Golovkin welcomed participants and thanked the US boxing federation for organizing the inaugural U19 World Championship and the Congress. In his speech, Golovkin noted the successful efforts of the WB Olympic Commission in enhancing international cooperation, including meetings with various National Olympic Committees (NOCs) at the recent General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) in Portugal.

At the Congress, the Kazakhstan Boxing Federation also submitted a bid to host the 2027 World Championship qualifying event for the Los Angeles Olympics. WB’s decision on this is expected soon.

Earlier this year, a Kazakh boxer competed in a World Championship final under the WB banner for the first time. Kazakhstan submitted its official WB membership application in September, and shortly after, Gennady Golovkin was appointed Chairman of WB’s new Olympic Commission.
