Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are preparing to launch four new trade corridors aimed at bolstering bilateral trade and fostering economic integration, Kazinform News Agency reported.

The initiative was announced by Uzbek Ambassador to Kazakhstan Bakhtiyer Ibragimov during a meeting with business representatives in Kazakhstan’s Zhetysu region.

Ambassador Ibragimov emphasized Uzbekistan’s commitment to improving economic ties with Kazakhstan and noted that Tashkent is undertaking significant renovations at border checkpoints to facilitate smoother trade operations.

As part of this economic expansion, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have also established trade centers in both countries to promote business connectivity and investment.

Currently, there are over 1,000 Kazakhstani-owned enterprises operating in Uzbekistan, highlighting the depth of economic engagement between the two nations.

Trade between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan reached $4.2 billion last year, with Uzbekistan exporting $1.4 billion worth of goods and importing $2.8 billion in products from Kazakhstan. Additionally, Kazakhstan exported 2 million tons of grain to Uzbekistan in the past five months, underscoring the importance of agricultural trade in their economic partnership.

The new trade corridors are expected to further enhance economic integration and facilitate greater commercial exchanges between the two Central Asian nations.
