Kazakhstan’s Senate has ratified an Agreement on military cooperation with Qatar, which was originally signed between the governments of Kazakhstan and Qatar in Doha on December 12, 2023, Kazinform News Agency reports.

According to Senator Galiyaskar Sarybayev, this agreement will enable the two nations to conduct joint activities in military education, soldier training, skill enhancement, military medicine, science, culture, and sports. The agreement also allows for the use of each country’s airspace and military training grounds for combat exercises and training.

Each country will bear its own expenses within the budget limits established by their national legislation, as noted by Sarybayev. The Agreement is initially set for five years and will automatically renew for successive five-year periods unless one party notifies the other of its intent to terminate the Agreement at least six months before the end of the current term.

Previously, both Kazakhstan and Qatar had ratified a similar agreement on military cooperation.
