The Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University hosted the launch of Kasym’s Poetry Collection and a panel on repressiya with the participation of students, scholars, and cultural leaders. Organized with the support of TÜRKSOY, TIKA, and Yunus Emre Institute, the event emphasized the shared cultural memory of the Turkic World.
TÜRKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev highlighted Kasym Tynystan Uulu’s pivotal role in preserving Kyrgyz identity, language, and the Manas epic. “Tynystan Uulu’s work laid the foundation for the Kyrgyz language and culture, ensuring its survival against assimilation,” said Raev. He also paid tribute to repressiya victims, calling it a “bloody mill” that claimed the lives of innocent intellectuals.
Kyrgyz State Secretary Süyünbek Kasmambetov discussed the revival of the Kyrgyz language after independence, emphasizing that love for one’s native language must come from the heart, through speaking and writing.
TÜRKSOY awarded medals to Prof. Dr. Almaz Ibrayev and Prof. Dr. Recai Doğan for their contributions to the Turkic World’s cultural heritage.
The panel examined Tynystan Uulu’s literary and cultural legacy, with scholars exploring his impact during the repressiya era. The discussions underscored his role as a defender of Kyrgyz identity amid Soviet oppression.
The event concluded with the participation of Tynystan Uulu’s grandson, Tengdik Tynystanov, and the presentation of certificates and gifts to attendees.
