On December 1, Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev participated in the 5th “Central Asia – China” Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Chengdu, China.
The meeting focused on enhancing collaboration between Central Asian states and China, emphasizing progress since the “China-Central Asia” Summit held in Xi’an in May 2023. The ministers reviewed partnership outcomes and charted plans for future cooperation within established frameworks and platforms.
Discussions covered a wide range of topics, including political relations, trade, agriculture, investment attraction, green economy, energy, climate change, environmental protection, transport, and customs. Cultural and humanitarian collaboration, tourism, high technologies, and pressing international issues were also addressed, with a focus on UN, SCO, and other organizations.
Special attention was given to preparations for the second “Central Asia – China” Summit scheduled for 2025.
Jeenbek Kulubaev highlighted the significant potential for economic growth and development between Central Asia and China, emphasizing the strategic location of Central Asia at the crossroads of ancient trade routes. He also underlined the importance of the “China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan” railway project, which aims to become a vital link in the “Belt and Road Initiative,” opening new trade routes, strengthening economic ties, and improving living standards.
At the conclusion of the meeting, foreign ministers signed a “Joint Statement on the Results of the Fifth Central Asia – China Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.”
