On December 11, 2024, the poetry book “A Life Story” by Mikdat Havdioğlu, a renowned poet of Iraqi Turkmen origin from Tal Afar, was launched at the headquarters of the Turkish Writers’ Union in Ankara. The book, published in Azerbaijan as a tribute to the poet’s 60th birthday, was well-received by literary circles.

The event featured opening speeches by TÜRKSOY Deputy Secretary General Sayit Yusuf, Ankara Social Sciences University Rector and President of the Turkish Writers’ Union Prof. Dr. Musa Kazım Arıcan, and Iraq Turkmen Front Turkey Representative Kutluhan Yayçılı.

Sayit Yusuf remarked, “This book has brought the Turkic World together,” emphasizing the importance of collaboration demonstrated through the book’s publication in Azerbaijan and promotion in Türkiye. He also presented TÜRKSOY’s Imadaddin Nasimi Medal to Havdioğlu for his contributions to Turkic literature.

The program continued with a book evaluation session featuring editor Dr. Cavid Mövsümlü and poet Sayman Aruz. Havdioğlu thanked the audience and recited his poems, concluding the event with a symbolic presentation of plaques and gifts from various organizations.

This meaningful event once again showcased the cultural richness and unity of the Turkic World while expanding the reach of Mikdat Havdioğlu’s literary legacy.
