In the capital of Turkmenistan, a special ceremony was held to celebrate International Women’s Day, where more than 200 mothers who raised eight or more children were awarded the honorary title of “Ene mähri”. This event, organized under the directive of President Serdar Berdimuhammedov, highlighted the significant role women play in the development of the nation. As part of the celebrations, large families were also presented with keys to new, comfortable apartments built by the state. These actions are part of the government’s ongoing efforts to improve the well-being of families and strengthen family values in Turkmenistan.
President Berdimuhammedov also emphasized Turkmenistan’s commitment to securing women’s rights, having ratified important international conventions such as the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and the Convention on Political Rights of Women. The event was an opportunity to express gratitude for the positive steps taken towards creating a supportive environment for women and children, especially in the year marking the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality.
