The official opening ceremony of the II TÜRKSOY Theatre Festival, held as part of ANEV-2024 Turkic World Cultural Capital celebrations, took place on October 18 in Ashgabat. The event began with performances in front of the Grand Saparmurat Turkmenbashi Main Academic Drama Theatre, featuring vibrant shows by students from Turkmenistan’s Cultural University, puppet theatre, orchestras, and dance groups.

The opening ceremony, hosted inside the Grand Saparmurat Turkmenbashi Main Academic Drama Theatre, included speeches by Turkmenistan’s Vice President Mehricemal Mammedova and TÜRKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev. Theatre troupes from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Türkiye, and Turkmenistan dazzled the audience with their colorful performances.

For three days, theatre lovers in Ashgabat will enjoy performances from these countries in three different venues.
