Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, during his official visit to Kazakhstan, gave an exclusive interview to Kazinform journalist Diana Bizhanova. The discussion focused on key areas of economic cooperation, including energy, the oil and gas sector, nuclear energy, agriculture, and pharmaceuticals.

Hungarian oil and gas company MOL has already invested $200 million in Kazakhstan’s energy sector, particularly in the Rozhkovskoye field. Talks are underway on new projects, such as the development of the Berezovskoye field and the potential inclusion of Kazakh oil (KEBCO) in Hungary’s energy balance.

In the agricultural sector, Hungarian company UBM Group plans to build four feed and premix factories in Kazakhstan with an investment of $83 million. Hungary is also looking to contribute its advanced cooling system technologies to future nuclear power plants in Kazakhstan and is interested in pharmaceutical and transport infrastructure investments.

Minister Szijjártó emphasized that relations between Kazakhstan and Hungary are based on mutual respect and long-term strategic cooperation. In recognition of these strong ties, Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev awarded Szijjártó the “Dostyk” Order (2nd degree) for his contributions to bilateral relations.
