Hungary is committed to contributing to peace and stability in the Middle East, stated Tristan Azbej, Hungary’s State Secretary responsible for programs assisting persecuted Christians. Azbej highlighted his participation in an international conference organized by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs to address the ongoing crisis in Lebanon, with French President Emmanuel Macron, UN Secretary-General António Guterres, and Lebanese Prime Minister Mohammad Najib Azmi Mikati leading the event.
Representing Hungary, Azbej emphasized the importance of supporting Lebanese authorities to prevent further escalation in the region and advocated for the safe return of Syrian refugees. “The safety of innocent civilians and the return of displaced persons to their homes are priorities,” Azbej stated, adding that “all efforts should also focus on securing the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas.”
Azbej announced Hungary’s recent $124,000 donation aimed at assisting Lebanese civilians affected by the conflict. “We are delivering this aid through Christian organizations and are planning further humanitarian actions in the near future,” he added.
